Music makers, dreamers of dreams

What’s the good in music anyway?

“Snozzberries? What on Earth are Snozzberries?” asks the sassy Verucka Salt. And Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) leans closer and whispers at her:
“We are the Music Makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams!”

What good is music, after all?

We exist to give people dreams again. To refill souls that have become depleted from the mad rush of survival that most call “life”. We are there to take their minds into a better world and open them up for new ideas, sideways angles on things. We are responsible for calming turbulent emotions or eliciting fresh feelings from a cold and jaded heart. Yup, that’s us… pretty serious responsibilities!

Keep this in mind, musicians, when you render your performance. What it does for you is added value. You are responsible for what the music does for your listener.

I would venture to say the same is true for all forms of art. But music speaks straight into a person’s soul as it is the oldest language.

Just a thought for today.
